Quantum Leap

QUANTUM LEAP

Synopsis

A person encounters a simple obstacle: a hole in the road. He takes a running start to jump over it, driven by determination. He jumps too high and too far, only to fall tragically into a much deeper hole that he never anticipated.

Creators’ Statement: Naïve Ambition

We love to play with characters who take themselves—and their actions—far too seriously.

In this film, our hero faces a simple obstacle: a hole in the road. Determined to conquer it, he throws himself forward with too much force, driven by naïve ambition and poor calculation. He soars higher and farther than he ever expected, only to land in a hole far deeper than he could have imagined. We’ve always been fascinated by this kind of irony—when overconfidence leads to a spectacular, self-inflicted downfall. It’s one of our earliest films, and we still love it for its humor and simplicity.

Production Insight

The speed and brevity of QUANTUM LEAP are essential to the punchline. This short demonstrates how our hand-drawn, low-tech style can generate immediate, absurd comedy, focusing the viewer entirely on the visual gag of the ambitious jump gone completely wrong.
