U TURN
Synopsis
A person stands at the start of a bridge, where a crowd has gathered to see him off on his journey. After crossing the bridge, he finds himself back at the very beginning, facing the same people who were once bidding him farewell—now welcoming him. The bridge, which stretched out over the water, is revealed to be U-shaped, curving back to its source, and the traveler’s journey has simply mirrored its form.
Creators’ Statement: Longing for the Moment of Return
As the revered poet Rumi once wrote, “Whoever wanders far from their source will one day long for the moment of return.”
This film is a visual embodiment of that deep, inevitable truth. Sometimes, we believe we’ve left a place, a time, or even a part of ourselves behind—only to find, in the quiet unfolding of fate, that we have returned to it, as if drawn by an invisible current. The journey is often not a straight line, but a cycle that brings us back to ourselves.
Production Insight
The concise duration of U TURN ensures the focus remains on the striking visual metaphor of the U-shaped bridge. Our hand-drawn, low-tech style lends a timeless quality to the setting, emphasizing the universality of this philosophical journey.
