Ripple
Synopsis
The brief animation, RIPPLE, depicts a single, undulating waveform that appears suddenly in a vast, black void—which represents the Ocean of Nothing. This wave, symbolizing our fleeting existence (or “Ecxisyance”), rapidly expands and contracts. It fails to achieve a complete, recognizable shape before it collapses entirely, disappearing back into the nothingness from which it arose.
Creators’ Statement: The Appearance and Dissipation of Existence
This film is a visual meditation on the moment of being itself. Our aim is to emphasize that the entirety of our known existence is nothing more than a temporary “ripple” that briefly appears on the surface of the boundless Ocean of Nothing. The waveform’s sudden, as a part of the Ocean and immediate dissipation illustrates that we manifest only momentarily, and disappear before we can ever achieve a complete, lasting shape or sense of permanency. This encounter with being is transient, fleeting, and ultimately absorbed back into the void.
Production Insight
RIPPLE utilizes a high-contrast, minimalist animation style. The single white, vibrating line against a black background focuses the viewer entirely on the kinetic, rapid motion and the immediate return to absolute stillness. The animation’s very short length focuses the viewer on the precise, brief window of time that represents existence itself, emphasizing its brevity and the futility of seeking permanence.
