Grow

GROW

Synopsis

A small sapling is tenderly tied to a wooden post, meant to offer protection as it matures. The rain pours down relentlessly, nourishing the scene—yet it is not the sapling that grows. Instead, the wooden post stretches and expands, engulfing everything around it in a sudden, illogical surge of mass, while the sapling remains stubbornly just a sapling.

Creators’ Statement: Possibilities Beyond Logic

GROW portrays a strange and wholly unexpected scenario. What one anticipates does not occur; instead, something entirely contrary to expectation unfolds.

This film is designed to challenge rigid and inflexible ways of seeing the world. By presenting a wholly absurd and unpredictable event, we invite the viewer to consider possibilities that exist beyond the bounds of logical expectation, opening the mind to new, strange realities.

Production Insight

At 1 minute and 47 seconds, GROW uses its runtime to fully immerse the viewer in the scene’s illogical transformation. Our hand-drawn, low-tech method emphasizes the contrast between the small, static sapling and the relentless, unnatural growth of the wooden post, giving the unexpected event a powerful, slightly unsettling visual weight.
