LANDED
Synopsis
A person is stranded and isolated on a tiny island. A plane appears in the sky, completely ignoring the person’s frantic leaps to attract its attention, and flies away. Astonishingly, it returns and lands directly on the island. To the person’s immediate astonishment, the source of their salvation turns out to be nothing more than a small model airplane.
Creators’ Statement: The Visual Joke of Expectation
This is an absurdist tale about human vulnerability. Alone and cut off from the world, humans often pin all their hopes on a single source of rescue, only to face inevitable disappointment.
What truly intrigued us in this work is the playful, visual humor: the airplane remains the exact same size in every frame, creating a subtle joke with the image itself. This consistent scale becomes the source of the film’s absurd comedy, a visual twist on perspective that perfectly underscores the ironic tension between overwhelming expectation and stark reality.
Production Insight
The success of the central visual joke in LANDED relies entirely on the precise staging of our hand-drawn, low-tech animation. The commitment to maintaining the airplane’s constant scale heightens the comedic and philosophical punch of the final reveal, making this a concise and memorable piece of visual satire.
